Delta: City of Murals

There’s a certain love for art in this small Western Slope community and they certainly don’t mind sharing. Historic Highway 50 is Main Street in the community of Delta and along that Main Street you can find murals and sculptures created by local artists that celebrate the heritage of our crossroads community.  ​Plan to spend an afternoon enjoying the more than 30 art installations located around town.  It’s a great way to explore the downtown area, visit our shops and stop for a bite to eat in any one of an assortment of local eating establishments.

Confluence Park

Located in Delta is a 265 acre recreational haven. Confluence Park is open year round, daily from dawn to dusk and there are no fees for public day uses. ​The 60 acre lake offers 5 miles of meandering walking trails near the confluence of the Gunnison and Uncompaghre Rivers. You'll find fitness trails that take you around the lake and through the cottonwoods along the river.  For the mountain bikers, there are 6 miles of medium difficulty trails that run through the park along with a pump track and skills course for all abilities.

Devil's Thumb Golf Course

This prairie style links is nestled into a swath of Adobe Hills and while some golfers describe a few holes as, “Playing golf on the moon”, we think you’ll find the views “out of this world”, as well. Delta County Museum

You’ll find much more than bones at the Delta History Museum so please join us to see the history of Delta Count as collected, preserved and displayed by the Delta County Historical Society.  There’s something of interest for all ages.

Visit Ft. Uncompahgre

​At Fort Uncompahgre, everything is authentic from the dirt floors to the piles of furs and animals hides displayed here. Stand in the same space where tribes and trappers exchanged furs for guns, knives, beads and other prizes of the sprawling frontier. Your history lesson begins when you get out of your car.

Dominguez/Escalante
​National Conservation Area

The 142-mile Tabeguache Mountain Bike Trail runs through this area, as well as the Escalante Rim Loop and Escalante Triangle Mountain Biking Area.  With 209,610 acres of land the area is filled with multi use trails that are great for beginners and intermediate use so bring the whole family.

Deltarado days
